International Women's Day 2023
This International Women’s Day, Zebra took the opportunity to gather our teams together, both men and women, to discuss the topic of equality and equity. We shared personal stories about women in our lives who have inspired us, and how things have progressed over the years in our respective geographies as well as our home countries.
Zebra proudly employs a 50/50 mix of men and women and 21 different nationalities, which delivered a conversation that was rich in insight and paths trodden.
The theme of International Women’s Day for 2023 is “Equity” which recognizes that women and men have different experiences, needs, and barriers, and that achieving gender equality requires addressing these differences. Equity is about creating a level playing field, so that everyone has an equal chance to succeed. This includes addressing the gender pay gap, improving access to education and healthcare, and increasing women’s representation in leadership positions.
What we know is that over the years there have been generational shifts in the status of women all around the world, but there is still some way to go. Amongst our teams there has been an outpouring of gratitude and respect for the role that women have played in our past as well as what women are doing today. We (women and men) are the change and we are shaping the next generational shift.
We heard stories from women thankful for their Mothers, showing them how to be a strong woman, from women who were thankful to their Father’s for instilling independence in them, and others acknowledging their partners for seeing them and meeting them where they are in life.
From our men were heard of great respect and an acknowledgement of how things are changing for the better.
An acknowledgement that it needs both men and women to come together as equals to create a better future, for future generations.
“I am my own inspirational woman because I have created a life for myself that no-one was able to role-model for me”. <3 by an Anonymous member of the Zebra family.
