Historic beginnings
The scent of cilantro and orange peel hangs in the air, a perfect union between spice and citrus that compliments the marriage between old and new in our design for Blue Moon Taphouse in Casco Viejo, Panama City. Careful to preserve the colonial building’s beautiful original brickwork and detailed tiling, the historic character of the Old Quarter is not eclipsed but illuminated by urban touches; exposed ductwork, black I-beam structures, metal mesh cladding for the balustrading and bar and an exposed metal ceiling.
Comfort and conversation are major design focal points; curved, blue booths offer guests cosy spots to settle in for the night, while high level, private dining rooms and terrace seating set the scene for every occasion – all wrapped in brewhouse artwork, keg displays and pops of brand blue. Warm, decorative lighting cascades from the second floor, encouraging a relaxed atmosphere that pairs well with the restaurant’s small plates and sample menus. Natural materials and abundant plants work in contrast with the urban fixtures, transforming a historic building into a modern bar experience. Now look up – the blue moon, a statement light feature that glows with the confidence of a brand who launched in Denver and now pumps life into Panama City.
